The slip-on shoe has become an essential part of any bloke’s wardrobe, looking as smart today as it did countless years ago. It can be a tricky one to nail though, so here’s a bit of background and a few tips.
The History of the Loafer
The popularity of the loafer is, in no small part, down to the iconic Bass Weejun. But first, let’s go way back to rural Norway at the beginning of the last century (you’ll see why in a minute). Scandinavian fisherman had worked out that two sides of leather fastened with a strip across the bridge made for some hard wearing, comfortable shoes to work in.
